Meet Roman, our latest Magento Developer!

We’re excited to welcome Roman to our team as our latest Magento Developer here in our Manchester office! He has relocated from Ukraine to work with our award-winning team, and work with some of our biggest Magento clients, such as Moda Furnishings, Augustinus Bader and ChloBo.

Roman has previous experience working directly with the Magento team as a Security Software Engineer, and brings a wealth of platform knowledge to the agency. Roman is a key part of our development team working with some of our biggest clients, on front-end and back-end Magento development, enforcing coding standards, dockerisation of the development environment and testing automation.

He will be working with our clients on both Magento 2 support and new Magento 2 projects, and will certainly bring his experience to the table here to help our retailers grow. He also has previous experience working with other ecommerce platforms and agencies in the Magento space, and so we’re delighted to welcome him to the Fluid team.

Our Magento team is continuing to grow, with the appointment of Haroon as a Senior Magento Developer a few weeks ago, and more to join the team. Roman will be a pivotal team member in our growth and we’re excited to welcome him to the team.

It’s definitely ecommerce awards season! We’re excited to share that we’ve been shortlisted for three awards across the UK Search Awards 2019 and Northern Marketing Awards 2019.

UK Search Awards 2019 – Best Small PPC Agency

Our vision at Fluid Digital is to be the paid search agency of choice for ecommerce retailers, and being shortlisted for Best Small PPC Agency at this year’s UK Search Awards is a great recognition of this ambition.

The ceremony takes place at The Brewery in London on Tuesday 19th November. There are so many fantastic retailers and campaigns shortlisted throughout the awards, so it’s going to be an amazing night.

This follows our recent win of PPC Agency of the Year at the UK Digital Growth Awards 2019, and another shortlist for Best Small Agency at the Ecommerce Awards 2019 and Best Small Ecommerce Agency at the Northern Ecommerce Awards 2019.

Northern Marketing Awards 2019 – Best Small Agency & Best Search Marketing Campaign

We’re nominated for two award at this year’s Northern Marketing Awards. We’re shortlisted for another agency award to complement our UK Search Awards 2019 shortlisted award, alongside Best Search Marketing Campaign for our work with Lakeland Leather.

The peak trading period, including BFCM and Christmas, are crucial to ecommerce brands, and Lakeland Leather’s strategy was to take advantage of peak trading to supercharge the ecommerce brand’s high-growth and highlight the brand as an industry leader in fashion and fashion accessories. It’s great to see our talented team receive industry recognition for their work on this campaign.

The ceremony takes place at The Point, Lancashire Country Cricket Club in Manchester, on Thursday 21st November.

Wynsors World of Shoes has hired the Fluid Digital team to help it drive sales through Amazon advertising.

Wynsors, which has its headquarters in Bacup, Rossendale, has a network of more than 45 high street stores nationwide. However, its sales from ecommerce are growing as its customers increasingly opt to make purchases online.

With the growth potential digital advertising offers, Wynsors has recruited Fluid Digital to launch an Amazon advertising campaign to maximise the number of sales the site generates for Wynsors. Amazon is fast-becoming a major force in digital advertising and spend is expected to grow by 53 per cent in 2019 as it claws market share from Google and Facebook.

Fluid’s role will be to devise and implement Wynsors Amazon advertising strategy to target consumers who are searching for shoes on Amazon. The site is becoming the first port of call for many online shoppers who visit it directly to search for products rather than via Google.

Alec Burns, Amazon strategist at Fluid Digital, commented: “Amazon accounts for a third of all online consumer spend in the UK and more than half of all product searches begin on Amazon so it’s critical for consumer brands like Wynsors. We’re finding with a lot of businesses that the use of Amazon advertising is a bit foreign to them as it’s such as new player in paid search comparative to Google and Facebook. It’s developing quickly and keeping up with that pace is key in maintaining growth as well as a competitive edge so it’s great that Wynsors have taken such a proactive approach.”

Ben Sagar, digital marketing manager at Wynsors, said the company was keen to see growth in the digital marketplace as it recognises how important online shopping is to its customers. He said: “A vast product range from Wynsors is already available on Amazon and achieves good sales numbers. However, making products stand out in a crowded marketplace is tough so we want to invest in paid Amazon advertising to boost sales. We have made good use of Google advertising so we were keen to ensure we had a strategy in place to take advantage of the potential Amazon advertising offers.

“Wynsors is a well-loved brand that started life back in the 60s but the world’s a completely different place now and we need to move with the times to stay relevant as much as any other retailer needs to.”

We’re thrilled to have been shortlisted for three awards at this year’s Northern Ecommerce Awards for the recent work and results we’ve seen with our clients Lakeland Leather, Moda Furnishings and more.

The awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday 23rd October at The Hilton Deansgate in Manchester, and we’re excited to head over to celebrate the very best in ecommerce in the Northern digital community.

Best Small Ecommerce Agency of the Year

Our first award shortlist is for Best Small Ecommerce Agency of the Year, following our recent win of PPC Agency of the Year at the UK Digital Growth Awards 2019, and another shortlist for Best Small Agency of the Year at the Ecommerce Awards 2019.

We’re joined by great company in this award shortlist with some other great PPC, digital marketing and ecommerce agencies – good luck to everybody nominated!

Best Ecommerce Search / Marketing Campaign

We also have two shortlisted awards in the Best Ecommerce Search / Marketing Campaign for our work with Lakeland Leather and Moda Furnishings. Moda Furnisings has also achieved fantastic ecommerce success in revenue growth, whilst remaining profitable, allowing for continued and further investment in ecommerce campaigns and improvement. It’s great to be recognised with two of our flagship clients for their growth!

Achieving Ecommerce Success

The awards ceremony will take place at Hilton Deansgate in Manchester, and we can’t wait to join the ecommerce community once again to celebrate success for our agency, our clients and everybody shortlisted. Good luck to everyone!

Our team continues to grow here at Fluid Digital, with two more team members joining the agency over the past few weeks. Sam Isherwood has joined us as our latest Paid Search Executive, and Joe Craven has most recently joined us as our new Test Manager.

Joe’s role is a new addition for the Fluid team and will help support the development and launch of new projects with his specific test management experience. Joe will create QA test plans with comprehensive cross-device and cross-browser testing, making sure that all projects meet the clients’ functional specifications and making sure that new sites are launched seamlessly. Joe was previously a Test Analyst at Boohoo Group, with 3+ years of testing experience in test analyst and test manager roles.

Sam will join the fast-growing performance marketing team and will support the growth and management of Fluid’s roster of paid search clients. He will manage some of Fluid’s key paid search clients, including Twistfix and Cablecraft. Sam Isherwood was previously a Paid Search Executive at a previous agency with 2+ years of paid search experience in agency roles.

The whole agency is excited to welcome the two new team members, as we expand into our new £250k Manchester city centre HQ.

We’re excited to announce that Fluid Digital and our clients have been shortlisted for three awards at this year’s Ecommerce Awards in London later this year.

It’s fantastic to be a finalist at the awards, and to celebrate our clients’ success amongst some incredible brands, agencies and tech companies.

Best Agency of the Year

It’s especially exciting for us to be shortlisted for Best Agency of the Year, after our recent win for PPC Agency of the Year at the UK Digital Growth Awards this year. 2019 has been an exciting year for us with the repositioning as an ecommerce growth agency, the growth and expansion in the team, the finalisation of the move into Manchester city centre, strong client retention and new client wins across high-growth ecommerce retailers.

Best Marketing & Advertising Ecommerce Campaign

We have also been shortlisted for Best Marketing & Advertising Campaign for our work with Lakeland Leather and our ‘Black Friday Boom on Amazon’ campaign.

We delivered exceptional growth in a highly competitive vertical, on a highly competitive platform, at a highly competitive time of year, and so it’s fantastic to be recognised for this campaign.

Best Home & Garden Ecommerce

We were also shortlisted for Best Home & Garden Ecommerce with our client, Moda Furnishings. Moda Furnishings is one of the leading rattan garden furniture retailers in the UK. They sell their own range of luxury rattan garden furniture direct to the consumer through multiple channels including their online store and regional showrooms.

The retailer has achieved fantastic ecommerce success in revenue growth, whilst remaining profitable, allowing for continued and further investment in ecommerce campaigns and improvement. It’s great to be recognised with one of our flagship home and garden clients for their growth.

Ecommerce Success

The awards ceremony, held on the first night of the Ecommerce Expo, is on Wednesday 25th September at the London Marriott Hotel. We can’t wait to celebrate all things ecommerce success at the event – good luck to all of the finalists!

We are thrilled to say that Fluid Digital won the award for PPC Agency of the Year at the UK Digital Growth Awards 2019!

PPC Agency of the Year

After a year of transition and change here at Fluid, we’re delighted that we’ve been recognised as one of the leading PPC agencies in the UK.

This year we made the transition to focus on highly specialised ecommerce performance marketing, along with making some new hires to the team with Sam, our new PPC Executive, along with internal promotions for many of the existing team.

B2B Site of the Year

However, the night was not  only a celebration of the team’s work as a PPC agency, as we also won a second award for B2B Site of the Year with our client, Whispering Smith at the UK Digital Growth Awards too. This follows a win at the UK Ecommerce Awards earlier in the year for the same award.

The team has worked closely with the team at Whispering Smith to create a streamlined, attractive and user-friendly website along with a mixture of digital advertising campaigns. We’re excited to see the work see continued recognition in the industry!

Further Nominations

Along with our two wins, we were also nominated for two other awards:

  • PPC Campaign of the Year with Moda Furnishings
  • Integrated Search Campaign of the Year with Lakeland Leather

Our Growth

2019 has been an incredible year for Fluid Digital and we are continuing to grow. We recently celebrated our full move to Manchester city centre and the appointment of new team members such as our Account Director, Senior Magento Developer and Marketing Manager

We are one of the largest independent Magento and ecommerce agencies in the North, and this is as a direct result from the hard work from our team and their dedication to ecommerce success. Go team!

We have recently appointed a new marketing manager, Joshua Hobson, to join our growing team, a newly created position with the aim of helping us to achieve our ambitious growth plans.

Joshua’s responsibilities will be developing relationships with partner agencies and external promotion of our services. He will deliver Fluid’s marketing strategy and will aim to increase clients, which already include Whispering Smith, Moda Furnishings and Chlobo, from the B2B, home and garden and fashion sectors

By the end of Fluid’s current financial year on 31 July, the agency will have achieved 25 per cent year-on-year turnover growth. However, next year, we hope to increase this further after the benefits of moving our headquarters from Bury to Manchester City Centre in August last year, recruiting more specialist staff and the appointment of Joshua to drive the marketing strategy are fully realised.

Adam Hindle, Managing Director, said Joshua will play a vital role in helping us achieve our aims. He said: “A drive on marketing has always been part of our plan to achieve the growth that we want to see. However other parts of our strategy, such as launching the new Manchester City Centre HQ and the appointment of more highly-skilled Magento developers and PPC executives now we have access to a wider labour pool, had to take priority. But we are excited to now be taking this step. It’s a first for Fluid and we are excited to see where Joshua’s input and marketing expertise could take us.”

Joshua has more than five years’ experience in ecommerce, retail and tech marketing gained at agencies Ampersand and Statement. Joshua commented: “There’s a great team in place at Fluid which has a clear and strong vision for the future. I’m joining at a really exciting time in the agency’s story and I can’t wait to make my mark and contribute to the growth plans.”

We’re proud to announce that Fluid Digital and our clients have been nominated for four ecommerce awards at the UK Digital Growth Awards in London in July later this year.

We’re delighted to share some fantastic results with our clients and alongside a nomination for PPC Agency of the Year, we’re also thrilled to see three of our clients nominated.

Whispering Smith – Launching Fashion Wholesale (B2B Site of the Year)

Whispering Smith are a Manchester based wholesale fashion retailer and have their own in- house brand, Brave Soul. Their new ecommerce site was developed on the Magento 2 Commerce platform and was one of the first sites in the UK launched with the new Magento B2B suite of tools.

Moda Furnishings – Luxury PPC for Luxury Furniture (PPC Campaign of the Year)

Moda Furnishings is one of the leading rattan garden furniture retailers in the UK. They sell their own ranges of luxury rattan garden furniture direct to the consumer through multiple channels including their online store and regional showrooms. Our PPC campaigns ran across Google search, Google shopping, Google Display Network, Showcase shopping, YouTube video ads and YouTube remarketing to deliver a range of successful results for the client.

Lakeland Leather – Black Friday Boom on Amazon (Integrated Search Campaign of the Year)

Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the lead up to Christmas are crucial to B2C ecommerce brands, and Lakeland Leather are no different. For Q4 of 2018 the brief was for aggressive growth at the most brutally competitive time of year on the world’s biggest ecommerce marketplace. The rapid development of Amazon Advertising presented a massive growth opportunity that we helped them to capitalise on, to drive growth throughout the peak trading season.

Our award nominations follow an award win for our work with Whispering Smith at the UK Ecommerce Awards 2019 earlier this year and a further nomination for Small PPC Agency of the Year at the European Search Awards 2019.

Our performance marketing team have delivered proven results from our digital advertising campaigns, alongside our long established Magento development team, and it’s great to see our team recognised at some of the most prestigious ecommerce and digital awards. Good luck to all of the agencies and retailers nominated, it’s bound to be an exciting night!

To support our continued growth, we have now appointed two new senior roles to our team. Carl Walker joins us as an Account Director and Haroon Nadeem also joins the team as a Senior Magento Developer.

Carl will be responsible for overseeing and leading existing client services for our ecommerce clients which include Moda Furnishings, Trutex, Whispering Smith and handmade designer jewellery brand Chlobo.

He joins from software company MPP Global but worked as an account manager at Fluid between September 2016 and March 2018 when it was previously based in Bury. Carl joined MPP to be closer to his Warrington home but as we are now based in Manchester City Centre with improved transport links he felt the time was right to re-join the team he loved working with in a more senior role.

Haroon, who joins from national footwear retailer Footasylum, will develop Magento websites for our existing and new clients that will enable them to achieve sales and revenue growth. He will be one of the lead developers in Fluid’s now eleven-strong Magento development team and as well as leading client projects will help to train and develop more junior developers.

Haroon has also previously worked at Fluid for a short spell from May 2018 to August 2018 however due to family reasons he wanted to be based in his home town of Rochdale so took up a position with Footasylum’s Rochdale-based web development team. However, with Fluid continually adding to their Magento developer numbers he hoped one day to return and the time is now right for him.

Adam Hindle, Managing Director of Fluid Digital commented: “Both Carl and Haroon have the skills we need and the knowledge of our business to hit the ground running. I’m thrilled to welcome them back to the team as they are keen to take leading roles in growing the business through quality services.”

Carl commented: “I’m delighted to come back to Fluid. I’d kept in touch and followed the company’s progress and when the opportunity came up to return in a position that would give me more control over the direction of client services I jumped at the chance. I’m excited to be part of helping Fluid create a best in-class offering and working with our clients to create growth focused ecommerce strategies.”
