1. What is Hyvä and how is it different from Luma or PWA?

Hyvä is a modern frontend theme for Magento or Adobe Commerce that replaces the bloated Luma stack (Knockout.js, RequireJS, LESS) with Tailwind CSS and Alpine.js. It focuses on delivering a fast, lightweight, and user friendly experience.

6. Are third-party extensions compatible with Hyvä?

The majority of third party extension suppliers such as Amasty, Aheadworks and Mageworx can be integrated with Hyvä with development work by specialist B2B ecommerce agencies such as Fluid Commerce.

However, Hyvä does not support Magento’s default Knockout.js templates, so any third-party extensions relying on Luma’s frontend may require:

  • A Hyvä-compatible version
  • A fallback to Magento’s compatibility module
  • Custom theme development

7. Is Hyvä easier to maintain than other frontend stacks?

Yes. Hyvä is simpler and more maintainable than:

  • Luma, which is tangled in legacy code and slow build tools
  • PWA Studio, which introduces a headless architecture with React and GraphQL. The development work for this is more expensive to maintain.

 

Hyvä offers fast development times, cleaner code, and a vibrant community—all of which reduce long-term maintenance burdens.

8. How much does a Hyvä license cost?

For B2B companies, the type of Hyvä license required is a Hyvä Enterprise license. 

Hyva Enterprise license

A Hyvä Enterprise license needs to be purchased for any Adobe Commerce website using Hyvä. The license enables the additional Hyva modules supporting Adobe Commerce features to be applied to the site. This includes Sensei product recommendations, live search and the B2B suite. The license is paid for with an annual subscription costing €2,500. Without it, the Adobe Commerce features will not work when using a Hyva theme on a B2B ecommerce website.

Hyva Commerce

Hyvä Commerce is a version of the Hyvä theme that provides new features for websites built on Magento Open Source. The annual subscription cost is €2,500. Hyvä Commerce also works for websites built on Adobe Commerce, but those sites are required to also purchase the enterprise license described above.  

The features included in Hyvä Commerce include:

Hyva CMS (an improved version of PageBuilder)

Hyva Admin, which has the ability to create widgets and other features

Hyva Image Editor

More features to be released on a regular basis

9. Is Hyvä SEO-friendly and accessible?
