Magento 2 is now Adobe Commerce

Have you heard the news? Magento 2 has now become ‘Adobe Commerce’.

On 21 April 2021, Adobe announced that Magento Commerce would now be known as Adobe Commerce. This is a sign of the company bringing Magento Commerce closer into the Adobe family, around three years since it acquired the ecommerce platform.

The rebrand will help Adobe to integrate Magento Commerce more smoothly and help align it with its other industry-leading products, including Creative Cloud, Experience Manager, and Adobe Document Cloud.

At Fluid Commerce, we’re excited that Adobe has finally taken this next step. The merging of the brands will create greater clarity and a stronger identity for both agencies and customers.

It’s worth pointing out that Magento Open Source, the non-licensed version of Magento, will retain its name as a separate offering to Adobe Commerce.

In a statement about the brand consolidation, Adobe said, “Our market focus and product priorities for Adobe Commerce, powered by Magento, are aligned to helping customers across the full breadth of their commerce journey.

“We continue to execute on our vision of delivering advanced multi-channel commerce, deeply integrated with best-in-class experience and marketing capabilities to provide customers across industries with highly differentiated transactable touchpoints.”
